Vaughn isn't too affected by time outs or any other form of positive discipline we've tried using. I saw on a friend's facebook page that she was turning her "being good" to "doing good" with her daughter and had a fish bowl labeled "Caught doing good" that she filled with cotton balls. I loved the concept but we didn't have a fish bowl.
Instead, I still had mason jars from our wedding, so we made a "HOORAY!" jar and an "UH OH" jar. On the "hooray jar" there are the letters, T, M and P. They stand for "Toy, Watch a Movie and Place. For every level he gets to, he gets that reward. We are going to use it for positive reinforcement as much as possible but there is the uh oh jar for when a cotton ball needs taken out.
So far, Vaughn LOVES it. He has started to make not-so-good choices and has changed in mid action to make a good choice which he acknowledges. He can't wait to get to that T!
And this is what Nolan was doing while we were making our jars. He kept grabbing any letters that fell trying to eat them.
