day 211: the nugget

If you don't know, this is what a nugget looks like...

According to Vaughn:
Vaughn(While riding home from Little Gym): "Mommy, you're driving like a little lady."

day 210: homebound

We didn't leave the house once today which made me realize a few things:

1. We always leave the house every single day. Most days we go somewhere fun, but others it may be just to the store or to the mail box or somewhere.
2. Vaughn and Nolan get a little stir crazy or maybe that's just me.
3. I get a lot of cleaning done. Wow got the bathrooms, kitchen, living room done and even did a little reorganizing of Vaughn's toys! Nolan and Vaughn were quite the helpers!
4. I need to get out! Thankfully, I had a mommy date with a friend.
5. I need to charge my camera batteries - was planning on documenting the day but both batteries were dead...whoops

Nolan Walk Watch 2013:
He's a walkin'! He officially let's go of things and walks to other things. The floor is still his favorite place to land but he's getting there. My back and neck are still killing me so hoping the zombie walking/falling stage is short-lived!
According to Vaughn:
Vaughn has his own language. He didn't know I was recording him!

day 209: new game

Now that Nolan is walking more, the boys have invented a new game - tub racers. Totally not what they call it but it sounds good for the post. We have two empty storage containers (aka: tubs) from Dusty and Jamie when they moved that the boys have turned into racers. They run up and down the hallway probably around 20-30 times.

Indoors...check!
Energy releaser....check!
Entertainment...check!
Sweaty sweaty boys...check!

and later, Nolan discovered the bike decoration and decided he wanted to ride in it.

day 208: coming out of his shell!

When we started Little Gym six weeks ago he was super shy. His favorite place in the world was in my arms. I'm not complaining as I love that but I also got sad that he wouldn't go to anyone else. His first class, he was very frightful of everything. The kids are allowed to go explore, but Nolan just explored my lap.

Slowly, each week, he would come out of his shell. Now, when we go, he crawls as fast as he can into the gym so he can play.

It's so much fun to watch how brave he has become and comfortable he is with the other kids.

He is still cuddly and likes to just lay on the mats, too. It's pretty cute!

day 207: pushing

Nolan and Vaughn are beginning to play together...or maybe Nolan just follows and chases Vaughn around while Vaughn tries to come up with unique ways to get away from Nolan. Either way, it entertains them both!

As Nolan perfects his walking, he LOVES to push things around. His new favorites are big plastic bins, his alligator walker toy and his brother!

day 206: my little builder

Vaughn is quite the builder. He has trains that he loves to build, blocks that he loves to build and a super cool log cabin he loves to build. I don't even need to help him! Honestly, he's better at putting those kinds of things together than I am! I love how he built two structures with his Lincoln Logs the other day...

Day 205: Nolan is 15 months

Yes, Nolan has been 15 months for 15 days, but we finally made it to his appointment. I actually didn't realize he was supposed to have an appointment now. I thought the next was at 18 months. Thankfully, the doc called AND my mother-in-law is on top of things and reminded me!

Nolan's stats:
Weight: 24.5 pounds - 70th percentile
Height: 31 inches - 40th percentile
Head: 19.5 inches - wait for it...97th percentile! He had and still has a HUGE head! Dave said he's a genius!

He was incredibly chill and sweet at his appointment. Everything went well and he was looking good! We met a new doctor who I REALLY liked! He only mentioned that if he's not walking by 18 months, Nolan will have to do physical therapy. I think Nolan heard him because on tonight's Nolan Walk Watch 2013, I got a couple videos of him in action. He was walking all over the place!

According to Vaughn:
Vaughn now has a few jokes he likes to tell...
Vaughn: Mommy/Daddy, tell me I'm a truck.
Mommy/Daddy: Vaughn, you are a truck.
Vaughn (SCREAMING and making his vein in his neck pop out): "No, I'm not!!!"
He did the joke in many different versions - red, he's on a farm, he's a duck, etc.

Following his joke, Vaughn paused and then went right into another thought. He asked me if it was a bad time to talk about Christmas. I wasn't quite sure how to respond!

Nolan Walk Watch 2013:
He is finally correcting his balance and slowing down as he tries to walk. He is even standing up on his own and walking. AND...he didn't want to be held so he could get down and walk. Now, that's a FIRST!

...and he did some falling too. He has a nice little goose egg on his head from this fall. He did get right back up and tried to walk thought!

day 204: sleepy boys = precious boys

Dave always says he just loves the boys when they're asleep. Yes, we love them when they're awake, too, but there's just something about two precious baby boys dreaming.
*Nolan had a hard time falling asleep so he turned his light on, cried a little then crashed. I went in to turn his light off and had to snap a picture. It looks like George had a rough time falling asleep too.

day 203: play

I’m always looking for new activities for the boys to do. It’s amazing how the simplest things keep them entertained for hours (and how much I can get done cleaning, cooking, etc.)! We made our first sensory tub together by dying some rice blue.

When I first told Vaughn we were going to dye it, he got really sad and asked how we were going to kill the rice. Too innocent and cute!

After picking out some items from the Dollar Store and letting the dye settle and get cold in the freezer, they had a blast. There may have been a tad bit of rice on the floor…and days later I may still be finding some rice in random spots. Totally worth it!

Nolan Walk Watch 2013:
He walked without me prompting him for the first time tonight. He was holding onto my legs, turned around and walked about four steps to the bounce house!
