We tried our best to keep a similar schedule like we had yesterday even though our activities were different today. And he cried for nap number one and number two. He did sleep for a while in his car seat again on the way back from his doctor's appointment. Then, after we got home from Stroller Strides tonight, since it was so late, instead of laying him down, I decided to keep him up. While I made dinner, Vaughn swung in the swing as I sang to him. He only cried a little until he found his feet. Eating his feet has been his new self-soother. Vaughn's new outlook is, "why suck on tiny fingers when Ican have a whole foot in my mouth?" Then, during dinner, he totally zonked out! He's never fallen asleep in the swing except for when he was a few days old. We let him sleep since he needed it.Vaughn ended up sleeping for an hour on the kitchen table. We woke him up at 9, fed him, then did our bedtime routine and put him to bed. Dave put him down awake to find him on the video monitor completely asleep in the matter of minutes.
The underlying theme of everything we do (especially today) is that we are trying our best by trusting our instincts and doing what we know how.
